Pearisburg, VA to Elkhorn City, KY

Overview:

The Great Eastern Trail follows the Appalachian Trail from the Allegheny Trail on Peters Mountain by Pearisburg, VA and up onto Pearis Mountain.  Then it goes down through the towns of Narrows and Glen Lyn and along the New River to Hinton, WV.  From there it turns west through Bluestone, Pipestem, Camp Creek, and Twin Falls State Parks, and through the towns of Mullens, Pineville, Justice, and Matewan, then south to Elkhorn City, KY next to Breaks Interstate Park.  

I have divided this into 6 sections divided by major roads, and each section is divided into subsections between access points that can be used for day hikes.  In addition, 2 alternate sections are for an alternate route from R.D. Bailey Dam to Breaks Interstate Park.
