Parking

 

1. “North” end of section: From I-77 Exit 28, go to US 19, turn left (north) and go 6.5 miles to WV 3, turn right (east) and go 14.2 miles. Turn right at go 1.1 miles along with WV 20, then turn left with WV 3. Go 0.5 mile and turn right onto Cedar Street. Go about 0.1 mile and keep left on Hill Drive, then go about 0.2 mile and continue on CR 14, Zion Mountain Road. Continue 5.2 miles, then turn right on CR 14/3, Little Wolf Creek Road. Go 2.4 miles and turn left on Low Gap Church, then right onto CR 3/3, Seminole Road. Go 1.8 miles to Bertha Camping Area.

 

   2. “South” end of section: The Point park in Hinton: From I-77 Exit 28, go to US 19, turn left (north) and go 6.5 miles to WV 3, turn right (east) and go 14.2 miles. Turn right at go 1.1 miles along with WV 20, then turn left with WV 3. Cross bridge, then find parking left of intersection with WV 107.

   0.0       At Low Gap Church, take Low Gap Church Road (CR 14/2), compass north.  

   1.5       High point of section, elev. 2707’.

   4.8       After passing Mt. Zion Church on right, turn left on Zion Mountain Road (CR 14), elev. 2387’.

   5.6       At CR 14/1 (Hartwell Road), elev. 2611’, bear left, staying on CR 14.

   7.6       As the road descends into Hinton, the road becomes Hill Drive.

   8.0       At intersection (elev. 1494’) with Chestnut Street (to right) and Observation Road (to left), continue down Hill Drive.

   8.1       Bear right on Cedar Street.

   8.2       Turn left on WV 3.

   8.5       Intersection of WV 3 and WV 107 at the confluence of Greenbrier River and New River, elev. 1373’. “South” end of section. Parking at The Point park just off this intersection. GET continues across bridge over New River into section 2a.

   0.0       Intersection of WV 3 and WV 107 at the confluence of Greenbrier River and New River, elev. 1373’. “South” end of section. Parking at The Point Park just off WV 107. Follow WV 3 east, away from New River.

   0.3       Turn right on Cedar Street.

   0.4       Bear left on Hill Drive (elev. 1412’).         

   0.5       At intersection (elev. 1494’) of Hill Drive, Observation Road (to right) and Chestnut Street (to left), continue up Hill Drive (CR 14), which becomes Zion Mountain Road.

   2.9       At CR 14/1 (Hartwell Road), elev. 2611’, bear right, staying on CR 14.

   3.7       Turn right on CR 42/2 (Low Gap Church Road), elev. 2387’. Mt. Zion Church is to left after turn.

  7.0       High point of section, elev. 2707’.

   8.5       Low Gap Church and CR 14/3 on left, and CR 33 (Seminole Road) to right and ahead, elev. 2393’. “North” end of section. To right it is 1.4 miles to Bluestone Camp and Retreat and 1.8 miles to Bertha Camping Area. GET continues ahead on CR 33 (Seminole Road).
