Egeria to Amigo

Parking

 

 

   1.    “North” end of section:  From I-77 Exit 20 take US 19 north 6.5 miles, turn left on CR 1, Flat Top-Egeria Road; follow CR 1 7.3 miles to intersection with CR 1/5, Camp Creek Trail Road. 

   2.    “South” end of section:  From I-77 & 64 Exit 42 take WV 16 south 15.4 miles to Amigo. 

 

Shuttle

 

“North” to “south”: Take CR 1 compass north 3.2 miles to CR 448/1, Old Barn Road & turn left.  Go 1.2 miles to CR 48, Odd Road & turn left.  Go 0.4 mile and keep right on CR 33/1, Tommy Creek Road.  Go 7.5 miles and turn left on Coal City Road.  Go 0.8 mile and turn left on WV 16.  Go 0.7 mile to Amigo. 

“South” to “north”:  Take WV 16 north 0.7 mile to Coal City Road & turn right.  Go 0.8 mile to Tommy Creek Road and go 7.5 miles.  Keep left on CR 48, Odd Road and go 0.4 mile to CR 48/1, Barn Road and turn right.  Go 1.2 miles to CR 1 and turn right.  Go 3.2 miles to intersection with Camp Creek Trail Road at bend to right.

Trail Description, “North” to “South”

   0.0       Intersection of Egeria Road and Camp Creek Trail Road.  “North” end of section.  GET follows paved Egeria Road (CR 1) to left (compass SW). 

   0.2       Intersection of CR 1, which bends left, and gravel CR 3/5, which goes straight.  Follow CR 3/5. 

   0.9       After passing through fields, the road goes downhill through forest. 

   2.3       In a low spot, the road crosses a creek. 

   2.8       The road crosses a hill.

   3.4       The road crosses Wiley Spring Branch. 

   4.6       Intersection of CR 3/5 and CR 3/7, from the left.  Turn right, continuing on CR 3/5, now along Devils Fork. 

   8.4       Road crosses Devils Fork. 

   8.7       Road crosses Devils Fork. 

   9.4       Intersection with WV 16 at Amigo.  “South” end of section. GET continues left on WV 16 into section 3c.

   0.7       Road crosses Devils Fork. 

   1.0       Road crosses Devils Fork. 

   4.8       Intersection of CR 3/5, to left, and CR 3/7 ahead.  Continue to left and ford Devils Fork. 

   6.0       The road crosses Wiley Spring Branch. 

   6.6       The road crosses a hill. 

   7.1       In a low spot, the road crosses a creek. 

   8.5       After going uphill through forest, the road starts passing through fields. 

   9.2       Intersection with paved CR 1, which goes left and ahead.  Continue on CR 1 ahead. 

   9.4       Intersection of CR 1/Egeria Road and Camp Creek Trail Road to right.  “North” end of section.  GET follows gravel Camp Creek Road into Section 3a.
