 9.8 miles, all Road walk, all paved 

Parking

  1. North end of section: From I-81 Exit 225, take VA 262 south to US 250, west 17 miles, left on VA 629 (Deerfield Valley Road), go 22.4 miles, turn right on VA 678, go 3.3 miles, parking on both sides of road just before bridge over Cowpasture River. 
 2. Pullover spot on east side of VA 609 0.1 mile north of intersection of FDR 1325, where branches of GET join. 

Shuttle

 This section is all road walk.  You can drive end to end.
