FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ADULT SINGLES   (FOCAS)

FOCAS is an interdenominational Christ-centered single adult ministry in Harrisonburg and the surrounding Shenandoah Valley (Virginia) area.  FOCAS seeks to provide Christian single adults with opportunities to share in fellowship, spiritual growth, and service.  FOCAS is both a ministry to single adults, who have needs unique to their singleness, and a ministry by single adults, who love God and are sharing that love in service to others.

September 1 (Sunday, *Note date change *) -- MONTHLY FELLOWSHIP PICNIC – 4:00 PM at Grove Church Farm (From I-81, take Exit 240 [Mt. Crawford exit] west to US 11, then south 3 miles. Pass C.C. Rosen’s Tire Service Shop on right, turn right on Summit Church Road to first private driveway on right. Come at 4:00, eat at 6:00. If your last name begins with A-I bring a salad or vegetable dish, J-N bring a dessert, O-Z bring a main dish to share. Croquet, Horseshoes, and other games are planned after the picnic. September 5 (Wednesday) – STEERING COMMITTEE, 7:00 PM at Stone Port Clubhouse.

 

September 8 (Sunday) – HIKE, 1:30 PM at Mount Crawford 7-Eleven. We plan to hike north from Briery Branch Gap (GET), along a road lined with wildflowers. Children welcome if supervised. Contact person: Tim at 289-6293.

 

September 13 (Friday) - MOVIE NIGHT, 6:30 PM at Stone Port Clubhouse [The Reserve]. (Come south on Stone Spring Road from 33 or east on it from Main. It is west of the hospital, on south side of Stone Spring Road, by the new DuPont Credit Union. When you pull into the Reserve driveway, Clubhouse is on the left. Flagpole is right beside it. Please park in back around the left side of the building. The door is locked and you will need to be let in.) We plan to view a movie with a Christian message. Adults only. September 14 (Saturday) – PLAY “THE CURIOUS SAVAGE”, meet 6:00 PM at Rockingham County Administration Building parking lot at 20 E. Gay Street in Harrisonburg. We plan to carpool to Broadway. Cost of play is $15, $13 for those 65+. Children welcome if supervised. Contact person: Lisa at 540-908-0195.

 

September 15 (Sunday) – PICNIC AT MASSANUTTEN, 12:30 PM (Take US 33 east to Resort Drive [no resort fee], to Massanutten Drive [just tell the guard you are coming up to the Lions Centennial Community Park for a group picnic], to the Resort, then right onto Palmer Road.  Additional parking can be found in the Family Adventure Park. There is a small fee for a day fishing permit if you want one.  No boats or canoes.  Nice easy walking paths.  Bring yard or table games if desired.  Mini golf is available near the shelter for a fee (estm $7.00).  The outdoor pool at Woodstone Meadows (bottom of the mountain) will still be open--there is a guest fee of $8.00.  There is an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, small gym, and locker room at Woodstone.  Small towels are provided at no charge.  Ice Cream is available for purchase. Bring a dish to share and money for other paid activities. We will provide beverages and paper goods. Adults only. Contact person: Lisa at 540-908-0195 (call or text). September 20 (Friday) – MINIGOLF, 7:00 PM at Mulligan’s. Bring money for game. Children welcome if supervised. Contact person: Tim at 289-6293.

 

September 27 (Friday) – DINNER OUT, 6:00 PM at Wood Grill (on Reservoir St. between University Blvd. & Evelyn Byrd Ave., across from fire house). Bring money for dinner & tip. Children welcome if supervised. Contact person: Laura at 476-1504 (cell).
